Background
For as long as I can remember I have loved being active. From Highland Dance to basketball to golf and of course, yoga.
I earned a BSE in Physical Education from SUNY Cortland and was a Physical Education/Health teacher and later Athletic Director at a private school in New Jersey for 5 years. Moving out of academia, I worked for Amtrak for 11 years and finally retired from IBM in 2014.
CERTIFICATIONS
I have been a practicing yogi since 2005. As retirement loomed and I was deciding what to do next, Red Elephant Yoga decided to offer teacher training right here in Fuquay-Varina and it seemed like a perfect fit. It took 2 years to complete and was closer to 650 hours when our class graduated and I earned my RYT500 certification.
As part of my continuing education, I completed my certification in the patented program “Let your Yoga Dance” at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in 2014. A 100 hour program emphasizing the use of yoga, music and the chakra energy centers to bring a heart healthy practice to all populations.
TEACHING STYLE
I trained in the Vanda Scaravelli/Esther Myers tradition which focuses on the anatomy of yoga and bringing the pose to each and every individual person, not the person to the pose. I have concentrated on working with the senior population and have worked with many individuals with physical limitations. I have learned to adapt yoga to fit the needs of each person, concentrating on balance, building strength to maintain an active lifestyle and providing a safe environment in which to do these things.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU IN YOUR TEACHING?
I decided to open Breathing Space here in Fuquay-Varina to provide a place in our home town for our unique wellness needs. We were a group of like minded practitioners looking for a home and I was fortunate to find the cute white house on Depot Street and the vision began. I continue to explore what the town is looking for and find ways to make that happen. I also wanted to provide space for wellness practitioners to be able to share their gifts to the public at a reasonable cost.
WHICH AREAS OF YOGA DO YOU COVER IN YOUR TEACHING?
For those wanting emphasis on stress reduction or health recovery, I teach a gentle practice that explores the different poses as they work in your individual body.
CLASSES OFFERED
Have you been encouraged to try yoga to reduces stress, improve flexibility or help with chronic pain and yet find the typical yoga class intimidating? Pilgrim your search is over. My class was designed with you in mind. As a former physical education teacher and RYT 500, I have the training and knowledge to help you find the yoga that works for you.
Join us on Thursday mornings at 10am for as we explore the wisdom of yoga.

Yoga Therapeutics for Stress Management
To sign up for classes with Ashley :
Background
For much of my life, I struggled with anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I was disembodied, and disconnected from my truest, most beautiful self. I needed more than what western medicine had to offer. When I discovered andexperienced yoga in 2011, I felt truly alive for the first time in my life.
Seeing the profound effect yoga was having on my mental and physical health, I went on to train in integrative, trauma-informed yoga, and have been teaching it since 2014.
I experienced another wake-up call when my dad became sick in 2021. His tragic struggles with the healthcare system moved me to create ‘Collective Wellbeing’ and study Integrative Yoga Therapy as an antidote to what I had witnessed. ‘Collective Wellbeing’ is founded on my deep belief in a more deep, holistic and personalized system of care, for both our personal and collective wellbeing.

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.” ~ Anais Nin
BACKGROUND
I love to read and be outdoors doing most anything. I have a finance degree and a law degree. I had my own law practice for a while. I practice yoga, practice law, and practice being a good human!
My friend Barbara took me to an Ashtanga class in 2000 or 2001 at lunch. I fell out of a pose and started laughing and have practiced with increasing dedication since then. I finally got to become a yoga teacher in 2018 and I love it!
TEACHING STYLE
I teach a mix of breath, stretch, and strength. I pursue functional yoga as I like being able to integrate the teachings into everyday life.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU IN YOUR TEACHING?
For myself, the feeling of my mind, body, and spirit being back in the same whole. For my students, that, and the happy amazement when they can do something they didn’t think they could, or they find that the practice on the mat has helped them off the mat. I also love the spirit of community.
WHICH AREAS OF YOGA DO YOU COVER IN YOUR TEACHING?
Breath work, traditional poses and flows like sun salutations, some strength building, and a little bit of meditation.
WORKSHOPS, TRAININGS, TRIPS
I was able to attend the “Nature and Nurture” week long retreat at Blue Osa in Costa Rica in 2010 and 2011, and it changed my life. The integration of practice, nature, community, fresh food – it’s hard to describe how amazing it was. I’ve also attended an Alignment workshop with Lynn Medow that made a huge impact on body alignment for me as a person, a student , and as a teacher.

Tina has been practicing yoga over 15 years and is extremely dedicated to this practice because of how life-changing it was for her.
